Philosophy

What makes an encounter interesting:
  • danger, here and now
  • opportunity to achieve game-goals, here and now
  • lead/clue to opportunity
  • striking beauty/horror/humor/reality
  • information enabling you to seize opportunities or overcome danger
What makes an encounter useful
  • Implies or states a resolution to the encounter
  • No longer than a paragraph, easily scannable at the table
  • spurs imagination rather than demanding it with an empty hand
Game goals to which these tables are geared:
  • wealth
  • compromising information (to use for favors/wealth/danger-avoidance)
  • situation that demands character-illustrative choice of you, here and now
  • acquisition of items to mitigate danger and enhance opportunity-seizing fitness
